{"id":390,"date":"2012-03-01T11:07:06","date_gmt":"2012-03-01T11:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendywolfe.wordpress.com\/?p=390"},"modified":"2012-03-01T11:07:06","modified_gmt":"2012-03-01T11:07:06","slug":"when-struggle-is-a-good-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/?p=390","title":{"rendered":"When Struggle is a Good Thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_398\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-398\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/03\/ghost-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-398\" title=\"ghost 4\" src=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/03\/ghost-4.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-398\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ghost the amazing Goat<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>My goat, Ghost, taught me about the process of dying.\u00a0 I knew he was uncomfortable, struggling and I wanted to help him.\u00a0 I wanted him to no longer be in pain.\u00a0 I wanted to \u201cfix\u201d it.\u00a0 But when I asked about helping him cross over with our medicine he refused the help.\u00a0 He wanted to experience the process of dying.\u00a0 He taught me a great lesson&#8230;to be with the experience rather than to avoid it.\u00a0 For him this process was as much a part of living as when he was playing with his buddies, jumping from rock to rock.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What I realize now is that living through the process or struggle applies to much more than dying.\u00a0 In our lives we tend to want to jump right to a future place without the process.\u00a0 We want to get somewhere, be something, do something without honoring the journey.\u00a0 And yet it is the journey or process that holds the honey that gives sweetness to our life.\u00a0 Even when and maybe <em>especially <\/em>when, the process involves struggle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_394\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-394\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/03\/dochannatug.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-394\" title=\"SAMSUNG\" src=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/03\/dochannatug.jpeg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-394\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Doc and Hanna struggle with a toy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Let me share a very personal example.\u00a0 Last summer Doc, my beloved Maltipoo, began exhibiting signs of\u00a0 a potential illness.\u00a0 He was drinking excessive amounts of water, panting and losing weight.\u00a0 Initially, I did an essential oils work up on him which in the end did not correct the issue.\u00a0 I knew clearly that what was going on with him was connected with me emotionally and energetically but I wasn&#8217;t ready yet to traverse this.\u00a0 He went to the vet for all the appropriate tests to check kidney function and a panel of other typical health indicators.\u00a0 Everything was normal except for elevated liver enzymes.\u00a0 I switched foods, added herbs and oils to support the liver and still the symptoms persisted.\u00a0 We went on to more tests for adrenal function and by now I had worked myself into quite a state.\u00a0 The vet had diagnosed him with Cushings disease and recommended an ultrasound of his adrenal glands at the UW vet school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And then it happened.\u00a0 That little voice inside my head said \u201cstop\u201d.\u00a0 This has gone too far&#8230;this is not the reality I want to create.\u00a0 And so I went back to what I had known all along, that this had to do with our relationship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The next morning I had a very honest communication with him about how he didn&#8217;t need to take on my stuff and how I was taking responsibility for my feelings and energy.\u00a0 And I did just that.\u00a0 Then I spent about 20 minutes doing energy healing for him.\u00a0 It was one of those sessions where the energy coming through was so powerful that my hands trembled.\u00a0 I was grateful to be able to pass that healing onto him and in the process I received healing as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Later <em>that day<\/em> I noticed he was not drinking vast amounts of water.\u00a0 He stopped panting.\u00a0 And within a week you could tell he had gained weight back.\u00a0 He has not exhibited any signs or symptoms since that day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At one point\u00a0during this journey a colleague offered to \u201cfix\u201d this for me with a process she had learned.\u00a0 I declined.\u00a0 I knew we didn&#8217;t need \u201cfixing\u201d.\u00a0 I knew exactly what needed to happen for us both to heal&#8230;but I also needed to go through my process; to honor the journey.\u00a0 The real lessons and healing for both of us came to me through the process and the struggle.\u00a0 There was a very powerful lesson for me.\u00a0 If I continued to focus on what was wrong with Doc, he continued to have problems.\u00a0 When I let go of the need to have something be wrong, when I went back to what I knew about our connection and how it needed to be different, the situation completely reversed.<\/p>\n<p>I have a favorite quote about struggle from Neale Donald Walsch, author of <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Conversations with God<\/span>. \u00a0I keep it on my computer monitor to encourage me when I am wading through debris in my life.\u00a0 It goes like this\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt is okay to be at a place of struggle.\u00a0 Struggle is just another word for Growth.\u00a0 Even the most evolved beings find themselves in a place of struggle now and then.\u00a0 In fact, struggle is a sure sign to them that they are expanding; it is their indication of real and important progress.\u00a0 The only one who doesn\u2019t struggle is the one who doesn\u2019t grow.\u00a0 So if you are struggling right now, see it as a terrific sign\u2014and celebrate your struggle\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Admittedly, if <em>all<\/em> you have in your life is struggle, it might suggest something other than a period of growth.\u00a0 Constant struggle is usually a good indicator that you have veered off the path of your soul;
