Garfield balloon in front of us with ease.\u00a0 After several years of a variety of parades, Smokey did get bored with the whole thing and so we went into parade retirement.\u00a0\u00a0 Until now.<\/p>\n<p>On Halloween Becky and I joined a couple of friends to ride in an all horse Halloween Parade in Beaver Dam.\u00a0 It&#8217;s an annual event with proceeds going to a different charity each year, this year was the Crow Creek Reservation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since Smokey had gotten bored with parades, I did ask him first if he was up for this and he was.\u00a0 I explained how I was going to temporarily change his looks and that he would make many people laugh.\u00a0 Smokey has a great sense of humor so he really liked that he would make people laugh.\u00a0 A couple of times on the route I reminded him that people were laughing with him&#8230;not at him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_45\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45\" style=\"width: 168px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/11\/smokeycow1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-45\" title=\"Smokeycow1\" src=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/11\/smokeycow1.jpg?w=168\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Note the pink udders<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I have always loved Halloween and coming up with some silly costume.\u00a0 My first instinct was to be a witch riding her black horse&#8230;or maybe a black bat&#8230;or maybe a flying monkey.\u00a0 No the flying monkey would be too much work this year.\u00a0 It was my sister Cindy who suggested we dress him up as a cow.\u00a0\u00a0 Brilliant.\u00a0\u00a0 We will dress up as dairy farmers riding our cows.\u00a0 I was riding my black TWH\u00a0with two other black TWH.\u00a0 All we need is some non-toxic white hair paint.\u00a0 One of the women actually dressed herself up as a cow.\u00a0 Another good laugh&#8230;a cow riding a horse.\u00a0 Becky helped us all out by walking along the parade route rather than riding.\u00a0 I learned long ago a groom is a good thing for a parade if you ever have any problems&#8230;.like in this case when a young dog took off running after one of the horses.\u00a0 Becky spotted the dog, squatted down right in her path and the dog ran right into her arms instead of into a scared horses hoof.\u00a0 Good catch Becky.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_46\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-46\" style=\"width: 217px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-46\" title=\"trophy\" src=\"http:\/\/wendywolfe.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/11\/trophy.jpg?w=217\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-46\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">First Place for Best Group<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Well we had a great time.\u00a0 The parade went all through Beaver Dam with people lined up everywhere.\u00a0 It was two hours long&#8230;the longest parade I have ridden\u00a0in.\u00a0 And here&#8217;s the really amazing thing.\u00a0 We won First Place for Best Group.\u00a0 The two cow horses, the cow riding the horse and&#8230;we did have three others who joined our group: Zorro, a pirate and a princess.\u00a0 Still&#8230;I think it was the cow horses with their pink udders, dry cow tags, cow bells, ear numbers and white blotches.\u00a0 We did get many laughs.<\/p>\n<p>Two hours on pavement can be a bit much for a horse not used to it so I made a point to take care of Smokey afterwards.\u00a0 He got some cranio\u00a0sacral work, some red light therapy and a dose of ZeoComplete.\u00a0 He was fine then and continued to be without any swelling or soreness.\u00a0 I do love this horse.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Having fun like this keeps me young and when I can bring my animals into the fun&#8230;with their permission it just brings all the more laughs.\u00a0 The more we laugh, the more we love.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Years ago Smokey and I rode in many parades.\u00a0 The Madison Holiday parade was only our second parade but he handled the flag we carried and the 50&#8242;
