{"id":7497,"date":"2013-08-07T03:29:23","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T03:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/?p=1194"},"modified":"2013-08-07T03:29:23","modified_gmt":"2013-08-07T03:29:23","slug":"part-iii-5-simple-steps-to-manage-your-sensitivity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/?p=7497","title":{"rendered":"Part III \u2013 5 Simple Steps to Manage Your Sensitivity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>This is part three of a four part series on living comfortably as a Highly Sensitive Empath. \u00a0You will find the first two entries below this one.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Years ago before I had a conscious awareness that I could communicate with animals, before I knew I was sensitive, before I knew I was an empath I would have experiences that I didn&#8217;t understand.\u00a0 I remember walking into a barn at a stable where I boarded my horse and feeling overwhelming sadness.\u00a0 It would happen whenever I walked into the barn. What I came to understand was that I was feeling the sadness of the horses.\u00a0 They were show horses and spent the majority of their lives locked in 12&#215;12 stalls.\u00a0 Except for an hour or so of training, that was their life and they were miserable.\u00a0 (My horse wasn&#8217;t in the barn.\u00a0 He spent his days and nights outside with another horse in a pasture.)<\/p>\n<p>It used to be that going to the Humane Society or a shelter brought on so much anxiety for me that I avoided them even though I wanted to volunteer.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t understand that I was feeling the animal\u2019s energy.\u00a0 I felt their grief, their panic and their anxiety.\u00a0 I was limited by my sensitivity.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I can volunteer at a shelter and provide communication and energy healing services.\u00a0 I can go into a shelter without taking on all the emotions and energy of the animals in transition. \u00a0I can be with friends or family that are emotional without absorbing their emotions and energy. \u00a0I can do this because I have learned to manage my sensitivities and <strong><em>you can too<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><b>5 Simple Steps to Manage your Energy Body and Control Your Sensitivity.<\/b><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1199\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1199\" style=\"width: 231px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/wendys-aura-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1199   \" style=\"margin: 10px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/wendys-aura-web-231x300.jpg\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1199\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A photo of my aura from the waist up.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><b>1. \u00a0Recognize and be familiar with your own energy body.<\/b>\u00a0 Do you know where your energy ends?\u00a0 Are you familiar with what\u00a0your energy feels like?\u00a0 When you take time to learn how your energy feels you will be more aware of when another\u2019s energy has intruded upon you. Quietly sit with yourself and notice what your energy feels like.\u00a0 Close your eyes. \u00a0Can you see colors?\u00a0 Can you tell how far out it is reaching?\u00a0 What do you notice?<\/p>\n<p><b>2. \u00a0Be in the Present.<\/b>\u00a0 If you are not living in the present moment, you will not notice when you are being affected by another\u2019s energy.\u00a0 When we walk through the world in the future or the past, we miss what\u2019s right in front of us. Multitasking takes us out of the present.\u00a0 Really notice right where you are, the smells, the feel of the air on your skin, the sounds.\u00a0 It\u2019s all right there in front of you when you come into the present.<\/p>\n<p><b>3. \u00a0Stay in your body<\/b>.\u00a0 People that are sensitive and empathic often tend to live just outside their body.\u00a0 Your consciousness is hanging around but not grounded in your body.\u00a0 This makes you feel less safe in the world and makes you more susceptible to taking on other\u2019s energy.\u00a0 One way to \u201ccome into your body\u201d is to take a minute to notice how you feel in every part of your body.\u00a0 Start with your feet and work your way to your head.\u00a0 Really pay attention to the sensations in your body.<\/p>\n<p><b>4. \u00a0Consciously separate your energy from another\u2019s.<\/b>\u00a0 Remember that part about using visualization to control your energy?\u00a0 Here\u2019s where it comes in handy.\u00a0 When you realize you are being affected by another\u2019s energy, visualize yourself separated from them.\u00a0 In<a href=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/2013\/02\/energy-cord-lessons-from-mother-elephant\/\"> this blog<\/a>, I explained about our energy cords and how to detach.\u00a0 Another technique is to visualize a clear Plexiglas tube surrounding you.\u00a0 The tube is open above and below you.\u00a0 You are able to see everything around you, but other energy cannot penetrate your tube.\u00a0 You can use any visual that works for you, you\u2019re only limited by your imagination.<\/p>\n<p><b>5. \u00a0Revitalize your energy.<\/b>\u00a0 Take time every day to keep your energy vibrant by using the Energy Mastery meditation or a similar process.\u00a0 You will find after you have done the meditation several times you will be able to quickly go through the process any time you are feeling a lull in your energy.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, as simple as these techniques seem, they really do work.\u00a0 If they don\u2019t work, something deeper is at play and I\u2019ll share more about that with you next week.<\/p>\n<p>Is this helping you?\u00a0 Questions?\u00a0 Provide your comments or questions here and I will happily answer them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is part three of a four part series on living comfortably as a Highly Sensitive Empath. \u00a0You will find the first two entries below this one.
