It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.\u201d<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Mahatma Gandhi<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A while back I shared an experience where I confessed to killing a spider.\u00a0 Shortly after the email was released a client unsubscribed from my list and shared that she couldn&#8217;t believe an animal communicator would kill a spider.\u00a0 I understood her point of view and wondered, does being an animal communicator make me less human?\u00a0 What kind of pedestal am I on?<a href=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/iStock_dog-on-ped.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-2230\" src=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/iStock_dog-on-ped-204x300.jpg\" alt=\"iStock_dog on ped\" width=\"285\" height=\"419\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like you, I\u2019m human.\u00a0 I make less than perfect choices, I have bad days, and I screw up sometimes.\u00a0 These traits let me know I AM human.\u00a0 Otherwise I would have gone poof by now.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the spider.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t the animal communicator who killed the spider; it was the scared 4 year old that has a phobia of crawling and flying insects from a few terrifying and painful experiences.\u00a0 She took over the drivers seat for a brief moment.\u00a0 You should hear me scream when a flying insect gets trapped in my car or flies near my face.\u00a0 When you only see the person on the pedestal, you miss all of who they are.\u00a0\u00a0 You also unconsciously make unrealistic expectations of yourself.<\/p>\n<p>In our society we put many people on pedestals, especially those in the public eye. \u00a0The common belief is, if you&#8217;ve managed to become famous, you must have been nearly perfect to get there.\u00a0 When in reality, the drive for fame is often (but not always) spurred by insecurities and a need to feel valued.<\/p>\n<h4>I also have clients who think I can do no wrong, never struggle and have this whole earth school thing mastered.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So not true.<\/p>\n<p>When we hold others to high and unrealistic standards or place them in high esteem, it\u2019s because our inner critic is one tough master.\u00a0 Judgment of others (good or bad) is merely a reflection of the part of us who never feels we are good enough.\u00a0 Judging that someone is more accomplished or better than you is as damaging to you as judging they are\u00a0less than you because of some \u201cerror\u201d they committed.\u00a0 <strong>When you put another high on a pedestal you give away your power.<\/strong>\u00a0 You are making someone else \u201cbetter than\u201d you.\u00a0 And this is just not true.<\/p>\n<p>We often assume someone who teaches is the ultimate master and never struggles.<\/p>\n<p>Also not true.<\/p>\n<p>I can teach about managing energy, tapping into intuition and mastering my emotions because I HAVE struggled with these.\u00a0 It was the struggle that brought me solutions I can now share with others\u2026 and I <em>still<\/em> struggle sometimes.<\/p>\n<h4>Each level of mastery we reach presents us with new challenges to master. We become the toddler learning to walk again.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve worked for years at judging others less\u2026and I\u2019ll be working on it until I leave this body.\u00a0 As I learn to be kinder and gentler to myself, as I learn to accept my human \u201cfaults\u201d, I\u2019m kinder and gentler to others.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to judge.\u00a0 It\u2019s more difficult to be vulnerable and show our imperfections.\u00a0 But when we do show our humanness, we allow others to be vulnerable and human too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/iStock_Mtn-climber.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2231 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/iStock_Mtn-climber-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of woman climbing on the rock and man standing by her\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>My dear friends, life isn&#8217;t a race to the top of Mount Perfect.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re all climbing the face of the <strong>Mountain of Imperfect Life<\/strong> that reaches up into the heavens.<\/p>\n<p>We keep climbing and hopefully, we help the people who are a little behind us on the mountain.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t mean we don\u2019t come to difficult places to traverse, or slip or even fall many feet down.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t mean the people behind us don\u2019t help us get further up.\u00a0 It means we acknowledge how far we have come and we keep looking up to the next hand hold.\u00a0 We appreciate the beauty surrounding us at each level.\u00a0 And when we notice someone struggling, we give them a hand sharing what we have learned from our own climb.<\/p>\n<h4>You are exactly where you need to be on the mountain right now.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>If you can help someone behind or above you, reach out.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>And if you need help, reach out knowing there is no shame in needing a helping hand\u2026you are perfectly human.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; \u201cIt is unwise to be too sure of one&#8217;s own wisdom.
