{"id":7535,"date":"2015-10-20T18:00:31","date_gmt":"2015-10-20T18:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/?p=2423"},"modified":"2015-10-20T18:00:31","modified_gmt":"2015-10-20T18:00:31","slug":"ditch-the-dissapointment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/?p=7535","title":{"rendered":"Ditch the Dissapointment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How often does disappointment color your world?\u00a0 Do you find yourself taken hostage by frustration or anger?\u00a0 Do your unfulfilled wants spoil what\u2019s great in your life?<\/p>\n<p>What if I shared with you a way to not be disappointed, to be free of frustration and anger? It sounds pretty good\u2026maybe too good to be true.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t want to sugar coat this; it\u2019s not that you will never feel disappointment, frustration or anger again.\u00a0 Yet you can minimize these feelings significantly when you allow yourself to \u201clet go\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When our ego is holding tightly onto an idea of what is supposed to happen in our life to be happy we block the circumstances our Soul would have us experience.\u00a0 We fear the \u201cunknown\u201d and assume it won\u2019t be as good as our ego\u2019s idea.\u00a0 In truth, our Soul will bring us more of what is truly needed in our life.\u00a0 It takes faith and trust to let go of the ego and allow Spirit\/God\/Universe to guide us through our Soul.<\/p>\n<p>Recently I\u2019ve been given many opportunities to \u201clet go\u201d of my expectations, attachments and desires.\u00a0 Though it\u2019s not necessarily \u201cfun\u201d, I\u2019m getting better at it.\u00a0 As I let go, I am happier, more at ease and less anxious.<\/p>\n<p>Since I bought my house two years ago I\u2019ve been planning certain remodeling projects.\u00a0 I bought the house understanding these changes would<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2426\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2426\" style=\"width: 375px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/painting-house-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2426 \" src=\"https:\/\/wendywolfe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/painting-house-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"My house gets new paint\" width=\"375\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My house of lessons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>happen.\u00a0 I expected them to happen in about the first 6 months.\u00a0 Circumstances altered the time line.\u00a0 Frustration set in.\u00a0 Eventually I trusted and realized this was good.\u00a0 The more I lived here the more my ideas about what needed to happen changed.\u00a0 The delay was a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>Finally this last July, it looked like all was set to go and then the contractor I chose couldn\u2019t start until October.\u00a0 I experienced more frustration and more opportunity to let go.\u00a0 \u00a0Once again I trusted my belief that I am always supported by Spirit\/God\/Universe even though my ego (which sometimes resembles a four-year old) may feel differently.\u00a0 I trusted there was a reason for the delay.<\/p>\n<p>Next, my budget was cut, almost in half.\u00a0 It was a crushing blow\u2026for about 6 hours.\u00a0 I called a few friends to whine and lament.\u00a0 I cried.\u00a0 Since I\u2019ve observed myself in this process of setting myself up with expectation then feeling let down, I knew the quickest way out was meditation.\u00a0 After about 30 minutes of heart centered meditation, I let go.\u00a0 Shortly after several creative ideas came my way.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">My mantra became \u201cFind a Way\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And I did.\u00a0 I found several ways to get the essence of what I needed at half the cost.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago this would have sent me into a long tailspin of resistance and resentment. What I\u2019ve discovered over time and more intensely with this project is, when our ego holds onto an idea about what we need, things can get messed up.\u00a0 When we release our expectations and trust Spirit\/God\/Universe, things work out in amazing ways.\u00a0 Better than what our ego had in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the smaller budget, I realize I\u2019m getting more of what I want.\u00a0 For example, I love the character of this home.\u00a0 It was built in the 40\u2019s and has immense charm.\u00a0 Part of the budget cut was to go from total window replacement to window inserts.\u00a0 The total replacement would have necessitated new interior trim on the windows.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t crazy about the idea because it meant losing the charming existing trim.\u00a0 Now I save money and keep the charm.\u00a0 There were several other benefits of the budget reduction.\u00a0 \u00a0I wanted new, maintenance free vinyl siding.\u00a0 The new plan ditches the vinyl siding and instead I\u2019m having the original hardboard siding painting.\u00a0 And you know what?\u00a0 It keeps the charm of the house, I get the exact color I want while using less resources.<\/p>\n<p>Having less means appreciating more of what\u2019s important.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Sometimes we think we know what is best for us and the reality is our Soul knows better.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>And more letting go has been required.\u00a0 Other items I thought \u201cI must have\u201d needed to go.\u00a0 I\u2019ve begun to see this as a game of detachment.\u00a0 How quickly can I let go of the ego\u2019s hold and move into peace and gratitude with what is?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Here\u2019s my challenge to you.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>What outcomes in your life are you attached to?<\/p>\n<p>What do you insist be a certain way?<\/p>\n<p>What can you let go of by trusting Spirit\/God\/Universe has something far better in store for you?<\/p>\n<p>Share below in the comments what you\u2019re ready to let go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How often does disappointment color your world?\u00a0 Do you find yourself taken hostage by frustration or anger?\u00a0 Do your unfulfilled wants spoil what\u2019s great in your life?
