The Wounded Butterfly

Recently I was near Spring Green at my writing mentor’s home walking a labyrinth in a beautiful meadow when I noticed a butterfly feeding from a bee balm.  As I watched her I could see that she was missing a portion of her wing on the lower right hand side.  Despite this “wounding” the butterfly easily moved from flower to flower seeking nectar.  Though we might have considered her handicapped, she flew off without any hint of disability.  Clearly, this imperfection did not keep her from … [Read more...]

Why You are a Highly Sensitive Empath.

Some days, okay maybe often, being a Highly Sensitive Empath (HSE) is a drag. It can suck. We feel others physical and emotional pain, we hear thoughts and see visions.  We viscerally know when an animal is suffering.  It impacts us; it makes us feel pain and sadness.  It can also attract more crap to us. So why are we like this? Is this some punishment, some karmic debt repayment?  Were we evil in a former lifetime? Are we emotionally, sensitive wrecks that constantly screw up our … [Read more...]

Waves of Tears

As I watched the recreated scene of the tsunami engulfing the entire resort, sweeping people out to sea with sounds eerily replicated, it was hard to grasp that it was a reenactment.  Even though I was watching a movie, my entire being felt the reality these people faced.  Waves of sadness, horror and disbelief swept over me.  Tears washed down my face leaving trails of mascara and foundation. These weren't menopausal tears.  These were tears of acknowledgment.  Tears that honored the struggle … [Read more...]

Part IV – Going Deeper

What about when the techniques shared last week don’t work? How do I protect myself? How do I feel comfortable in “negative” energy? Sometimes visualizing a Plexiglas tube or grounding your energy doesn't work. Having helped many Highly Sensitive Empaths, I have discovered that occasionally the techniques don't work.   Sometimes, there is more happening than their energy reaching out and picking up another’s energy. If a part of you is resonating with the energy of another, the Law of … [Read more...]

Part III – 5 Simple Steps to Manage Your Sensitivity

This is part three of a four part series on living comfortably as a Highly Sensitive Empath.  You will find the first two entries below this one. Years ago before I had a conscious awareness that I could communicate with animals, before I knew I was sensitive, before I knew I was an empath I would have experiences that I didn't understand.  I remember walking into a barn at a stable where I boarded my horse and feeling overwhelming sadness.  It would happen whenever I walked into the barn. What … [Read more...]
