I've noticed this very interesting phenomenon. Early in the morning when I am just coming out of the dream state into consciousness my dogs King and Doc are aware of this. They wake when I wake. What's interesting is that it happens as I am coming out of sleep, just barely coming into consciousness...not even really awake. You know, that place where you begin to realize you have been dreaming but no longer are? I'm not moving my body at all. I make a point of remaining very still so as not … [Read more...]
Maddie’s last big adventure
I wanted to share a story with you about our Toy Poodle, Madelyn, aka, Maddie. This happened on December 16, 2005 and will stay forever in my memory. I have a page at the Waupaca County Humane Society where you can make a small donation (even $1 helps) or I suppose a big donation if you … [Read more...]
Gratitude…A State-of-Heart.

She was able to find his personality and … [Read more...]
A Chance Encounter
Yesterday I had an encounter with an injured ruffed Grouse. I was walking the dogs when he scurried from the side of the road further into the bush, obviously unable to walk properly or fly. I noted where he was and continued my walk. Leading four dogs at the time did not allow me to help him. As I continued to walk I pondered whether I should try to help him after my walk with the dogs or let nature take its course. It's always a difficult question for me. The animals have helped me to … [Read more...]
